In Hindu Scriptures, Lakshmi is the goddess of prosperity, wealth, and beauty. She is the wife of Vishnu. In the Sanskrit epic Ramayana, the Hindu goddess Sita is the incarnation of Lakshmi on Earth. In Ramayana, Sita is portrayed as the faithful and virtuous wife of the lord Rama, who is the avatar of Vishnu. Sita is worshipped as the ideal model of womanhood and wifehood. Rama is considered a maryada purushottama or the best of upholders of Dharma.
