Description
Gaja means elephant. The elephant motif holds significant cultural value. Its roots go back to the Indus Valley civilization, which provided the earliest and most careful representation of elephants on seals and amulets. Ajanta cave paintings also carry the elephant image in various paintings.
If we look into the lexicons, the hymns of the Rigveda mention a white elephant as the carrier or vahana of Lord Indra. The Jatakas refer to the stories of Lord Buddha descending on Earth in the form of an elephant, and so on. The Gaja is a symbol of fertility, support, and strength. This masterpiece is made of copper which deflects away negative energy and is much more durable compared to other materials.
