Description

Raksha Bandhan is a cherished Hindu festival celebrated in India. On this day, sisters tie a rakhi (a sacred thread) around their brother’s wrists, symbolising affection and love for the bond between them. The word “Raksha” means “protection,” and “Bandhan” means “bond” or “tie” in Sanskrit. The origin of Raksha Bandhan can be traced back to the epic tale of the Mahabharata. In the story, Draupadi ties a piece of cloth around Krishna’s wrist to protect him from harm. Her gesture so touches Krishna that he promises to always stay by her side. The festival is a beautiful tradition that fosters love, unity, and familial harmony. This is an upcycled product made from leftover new clothes which contribute to sustainable usage of resources and a circular economy by not discarding the leftover new clothes into the landfills.
